Prayer is about becoming receptive
It’s about learning the art of relaxation
rather than learning the strategies of how to conquer our reality.
Truth is not going to be a conquest, it is going to be total surrender.
Its about becoming a host, it’s about opening up.
It’s about being receptive so that the wind can come in,
the rain can come in, and the sun can come in.
And just hidden behind the wind, the rain and the sun comes the Guest.
And the guest does not come from the outside, it arises within you.
God is the guest, you are the host.
You become a welcome,
You become a prayer,
You become an invitation,
And the host is waiting, always waiting
You are waiting, with tears in your eyes, and with tremendous trust in your heart.

I sat there and forgot and forgot
until what remained was the river that went by and I who watched. . .
Eventually the watcher joined the river
and then there was only one of us.
I believe it was the river.”

I am Here to embrace all of It,
with empty hands and holy trembles.

The one flesh Buddha/Christ/Mother/Tao
has been wounded and torn,
caressed and loved throughout eons,
still it remains unnamed and untouched, without blemish.
As do you and i dear friends.

Here — Now — we are holding hands,
as we pass through incalculable birthings and deathings
to an awareness that nothing ever happened.

It has been said that ‘the line between
the profound and the profane is as thin as fishing line’,
But how can we know?
For the One that carries us swallowed the line,
as we bit the hook that dangles us
between and beyond time and space–
with its knowings that crumble to unknowing…

It is Here the head does bow,
as the heart gives thanks to Grace and her wild ways.
United in freedom and inexpressible Love,
every song a prayer to know Itself as This.

I am Here to embrace all of It…..

Have watched the May 21 date come and go silently from the sidelines… Just watching, curious and aware of  the power and play of the mind… Have lived long enough to know how the mind with its intertwining lattice of love, hope, hate, devotion, beliefs, dogmas, doctrines, righteousness, and tender longings can leave the mind and heart shambled and chumped by its own creation….

Because of my own follies of heart and shattered beliefs i woke feeling a tender kinship in joined humanity for all that thought they would not be here… could not be Here…. or do not know how to be Here…I have not been one that could say with any kind of integrity or honesty; ” Except for the grace of God there go i.”, rather it has been, ‘ There go i. . . . ”

This day once again, silent on the sidelines. There is a holding of  shattered minds and bruised hearts within the grace of Love which cannot be touched….Often these days there is this holding space, accompanied  with a tender, stark, subtle, poignant ache for all that is born, and dreams, and dies, within that which remains forever…

May Peace be known in all minds and  hearts…

May we all be free….

The Love of Morning

It is hard sometimes to drag ourselves
back to the love of morning
after we’ve lain in the dark crying out
O God, save us from the horror . . . .

God has saved the world one more day
even with its leaden burden of human evil;
we wake to birdsong.
And if sunlight’s gossamer lifts in its net
the weight of all that is solid,
our hearts, too, are lifted,
swung like laughing infants;

but on gray mornings,
all incident – our own hunger,
the dear tasks of continuance,
the footsteps before us in the earth’s
beloved dust, leading the way – all,
is hard to love again
for we resent a summons
that disregards our sloth, and this
calls us, calls us.

Sensitivity and Pain

To live requires energy and fearlessness, but we are brought up in a pleasure-hunting human race, and pain is something to be afraid of, to be driven away completely, to protect oneself from.

But it is the pain and pleasure – the duality – together that make the whole, the wholeness of life.

The more sensitive you are and the more you live from the depth of your being, the more vulnerable you are to life.

The more sensitive you are and the more capable of loving human beings, the more you will be hurt; there is more sorrow, there is more pain.

Psychological hurts, pain and sorrow accompany the sensitivity, intelligence and love. Love and sorrow go together.

So, if there is physical or psychological pain, you live with it – not out of despair, not out of self-pity, not out of any weakness.  You live with it because it is part of life, it is an expression of life.

Love is light, an understanding, a deep respect for yourself. Fear is darkness, an ungrateful response to existence. Ego is a thief that lives in fear –always running away, always hiding. Awareness is when you realize you do not need crutches to walk. Throw away the crutches– you will fall, but I guarantee you will rise and walk on your own feet.

The circle is a sacred reminder of the interrelationship, respect, and clarity that come from opening oneself up to the energy of the Circle of Life- the wisdom offered by one’s experiences, the experiences of others, and the world in which we live. The Circle is a sacred symbol reminding us of the importance of our unique place in the Universe and our relationship to all things.
